Why Do We Test For Emissions?

The Clean Air Act requires EPA to set National Ambient Air Quality Standards for six common air pollutants. These air pollutants are found all over the United States.

How do you test the car for emissions?

For cars without an OBD sensor, the emission technician will use the tailpipe method to test the car's emission. New model vehicles have a OBD sensor. The technician will plug a cable into the OBD sensor in the car to read the data.

What is an OBD sensor?

The emission test also checks for the amount of Carbon Monoxide the car emits, which is one of the air pollutants monitored by the EPA.

What can I do to help keep the air clean?

In honor of our Veterans any Veteran or Active Military personnel that presents a valid Military ID and this page will receive $5.00 off the emission test fee.
